Partner Church
Nancy Kinney reported that our congregation does not have to be members of UUA to participate. Nancy ’s contact person suggests that we explore within the congregation what we want to do, then go forward. A $50 membership fee will entitle us to receive four newsletters a year, give us a contact person and access to the web site for information. A $200 membership fee is for a supporting member. The organization makes the partnership between the churches. The group felt that this partnership could be a two-way street with both congregations benefitting from the experience. The group discussed moving forward and agreed to spend $50 to get the membership going. We completed the application, made out the check so that Nancy could mail it for us. The Kinney’s will be our contact for this. -
Treasurer’s report
The board is still pursuing making a different investment choice and we discussed the information Mary presented in the October board meeting minutes. The board will make a decision at the next meeting. -
Carnegie Building
The building has been unofficially reserved pending payment. The group agreed that we should go ahead with paying for a whole year. Mary will take care of this. We have been given permission to place a storage cabinet in the basement for our supplies. It has to be a certain type. Tom B. has said that he is willing to shop for the cabinet. Ken offered to help with this. The group agreed that Ken and Tom should buy the cabinet. The group thought that around $100 should be the goal for purchasing the cabinet. A $50 donation for the maintenance and tuning of the piano has been made to the library. This was approved in a previous meeting. -
Phone Guide
Mary reported that for $83 we can have our ad in the phone guide under a new Unitarian Universalist section. The group agreed with this and Mary will make it happen. -
Holiday Giving
The group discussed different options for holiday giving. Some ideas were Petoskey Schools , Bother Dan, Women’s Resource center, and the Good Samaritan. We settled on the Petoskey Schools. They are aware of family’s in need within the school district and will direct our contributions appropriately. Mary knows the person in charge of this and will make the contact. -
Wildwood
Ken told the board that he will try to take down our large sign on the property this afternoon.
Meeting adjourned; the next meeting will be December 16 after the service.
