UUCOP Supports the Sponsor a Student effort
The Board of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Petoskey has decided to create its own version of the Partner Church/Sponsor-a-School Program by making possible the attendance of two Khasi Unitarian elementary teachers at a special Course on Primary Education (CPE) organized by Indira Gandhi National Open University(IGNOU), New Delhi in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Department of Education. The CPE is designed to improve the teaching skills of the teachers who participate. By making a special gift to the Education Committee of the Unitarian Union of North East India (UUNEI) the congregation has insured that the tuition and fees for the teachers will be paid. Members of the congregation will be in touch by email and regular mail with the Khasi teachers to support their participation and get to know them better.
The contact person for the Education Committee of the UUNEI is its secretary Creamllimon Nongbri who is herself an associate professor of education at the Department of Education, North Eastern Hill University(NEHU) Shillong and a member of Special Group for Training Meghalaya State Education Committee which arranged to make the course available to all School teachers in the State.Other websites relevant to this effort are listed below.
